CULTURAL CENTER PLANNING, TAICHUNG CITY,
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Greenwish
is not just a local idea, neither a national project, it pretend become bigger,
to affect the whole world and be global reference.
Nowadays Greenwish is a temporary global reference. In contest
Greenwish will be a natural and sustainable meridian that connects in a new way
the east of Asia and proposes a new development strategy.
The contrast of these two elements becomes the soul of the
project. On one hand the Taichung Gateway Park pretend to be a place to relax,
enjoy the nature and sports. On the other hand, Park Avenue is a dynamic urban
link related with the city and it's rhythm.
One of the aims is to connect these urban elements but, at the
same time the building should become a boundary between both, and it will keep
their balance.
The project's brief also intensify this idea of duality, a
library and museum join in a cultural building. Therefore the building shapes
come from one concept but at the end it becomes two linked elements.
The museum is related with the Park Avenue, and creates a public
plaza as the main entrance. In contrast the library faces the Taichung Gateway Park
and hugs it with a green open reading area.
In this project the energy is one of the most important points.
We propose two ways of producing energy. The building could produce energy
instantly to supply the demand during the day by photovoltaic panels, and the
other way it could storage energy by biogas that will be transformed in
electricity when the demand requires it.
The biogas is obtained from biomass digesters where organic waste
and the dead seaweeds will discompose. Moreover, not only the organic east is
recycled, but also seaweeds will filter sewage water from the city and take CO2
from freeways and factories.
